About this Update

This update is for English. For the French and German updates, change the site language accordingly.

This free update for ACDSee Pro 2.5 includes the following fixes:

Metadata:

  • Images which had GPSLatitude or GPSLongitude EXIF values where the minute contained more than 4 digits past the decimal place were truncated
  • The application would ‘shift’ the decimal in GPSLatitude or GPSLongitude fields in the second part of the coordinate in some situations
  • The application would not update the EXIF Camera Date/Time field once that value had been written once
  • GPSLatitude or GPSLongitude EXIF fields that contained a very high number of decimal places would cause the wrong values to be displayed in the Properties pane and these values were then written back into the file – overwriting the original value
  • The application was not correctly writing GPS coordinate values when creating the XMP block resulting in loss of the Latitude/Longitude Reference value.

Stability:

  • Saving a .RW2 file as a .TIFF could cause a crash if ‘preserve metadata’ option was on
  • Corrupt files could cause a crash due to a problem in the Quarantine Files feature
  • Large TIFF files sometimes crashed when being taken into the Editor

Other:

  • RW2 files were not being correctly associated with the application

This major update to ACDSee Pro 2.5 includes the following new capabilities:

  • Organize up front
With the new Import Photos feature, you can organize your photos as you acquire them from your camera or other storage device. Save time by setting categories, EXIF, IPTC and more as you import new images. Simultaneously rename, auto-rotate, delete, set the destination and create backup copies.

  • Embed all your metadata
Improve portability and protect the data in your custom metadata fields, including categories, keywords and ratings, by embedding them in your images’ XMP fields. You can even embed data in file formats that don’t include IPTC or EXIF fields, including PNG, PDF and GIF. That means you can easily share your ACD metadata with other ACDSee users, and protect critical metadata. A list of your images that require embedding of database information can be easily retrieved. Then once the process is complete, you can see which files were not successfully embedded with the metadata.

  • Save your searches
Build complex searches based on folder name, file name, location and metadata, then access them again and again, with the new Saved Searches feature.

  • See more with UNICODE
View more images with ACDSee Pro 2.5’s UNICODE environment. You can now browse images with file names or metadata that include characters which are not part of your local system’s language settings.

  • Enjoy editing peace of mind
Go ahead. Get creative with your pixel-level editing. ACDSee Pro 2.5 saves a copy of your original image, so you can restore your original at any time, even after multiple editing sessions.

  • Add a finishing touch
Polish up your photos with a custom border, drop shadow, or edge effect.

  • Enhanced slide shows
Experience the new and improved Auto Slide Show feature. Add pan & zoom, black & white, and sepia effects, plus set your slide show to MP3s.

  • Customize your preferences
Hit your workflow running. Configure the improved Startup Experience to set your default start folder, browser display scheme and catalog your files - all in one place.

The issue related to database conversion in the initial ACDSee Pro 2.5 updates (build 332 and build 333) that affected some users has been resolved in this update (build 358). If you did not experience difficulties converting your database with build 332 or 333, you can still update to this build for additional capabilities.

If you did experience difficulties converting your database to build 332 or 333, please follow the steps in this Knowledge Base article to reverse the update: http://www.acdsee.com/support/knowledgebase/article?id=2929.
