IMPORTANT NOTES, PLEASE READ
The beta is intended to be used for testing and feedback purposes.
- We recommend using test images only as you try ACDSee Pro 3 Beta. This is a very early beta quality build and you should always work on duplicates of files that are securely backed up.
- The image management and processing settings you select will not be transferable, as this beta version is not fully compatible with previous or subsequent versions of ACDSee Pro.
- The ACDSee Pro 3 Beta database will not be migrated to the final released version of Pro 3.
- Pro 3 Beta will not overwrite or interfere with ACDSee products that are already installed on the same computer.
- Help documentation is available for ACDSee Pro 3 Beta but is not considered final.
- The beta is not supported by Customer or Technical support. Please report any issues encountered on the product forums (http://community.acdsee.com/forums). See the Other Resources section below.
- Once you have an ACDSee Online account, you can access it through a web browser at www.acdseeonline.com.
- Additional known issues are listed below.
Beta Period
ACDSee Pro 3 Beta will install and launch for an extended beta period. This beta will expire October 30, 2009. Please provide feedback through the forums at http://community.acdsee.com/forums.
Known Issues
- File operations which involve developed files are not fully implemented at this time. Files ACDSee internally associates with a developed image may not be correctly renamed, deleted, copied, or moved, resulting in some unanticipated behavior.
- Pro 3 Beta does not recognize Canon cameras connected via USB and currently cannot import images.
- VCD creation is not working properly.
- All EXIF and IPTC data will be lost after performing Rotate, Resize and Exposure on JPEG, TIFF and PSD images.
- In layered TIFF files the layers will merge and create a flat TIFF.
- Pro 3 Beta hangs on password protected ZIP files.
- A 16 bit PSP file from Paint Shop Pro will cause Pro 3 Beta to crash. Disable the ID_PSP.apl plug-in as a workaround.
- Browsing and/or editing huge TIFF, PSD and other file formats over 50 MB will cause Pro 3 Beta to perform unreliably.
- The Backup database name cannot be longer than 16 characters.
- Pro 3 Beta crashes when you navigate to a long path folder.
- The Image Description EXIF field displays incorrectly.
- The screensaver and standalone slideshow require the latest version of DirectX to run.
- A DNG thumbnail cannot be rotated.
- The Batch Resize tool produces a corrupt output file.
- The Search tool runs in an endless loop when the search is limited to a specific folder.
- Pro 3 Beta will corrupt APD files when it tries to re-encode image data or metadata.
- Pro 3 Beta crashes when batch converting NEF RAW files to TIFF.
- The Filmstrip is not updated when new files are added to the list in View mode.
- Images may be overlapped in the View mode.
- EXIF maker notes are missing for the following: Nikon camera models: D2H, D2Hs, D2X, D2Xs, D3, D40, D40X, D60, D80, D90, D200, D300, D700; Pentax camera models: K10D, K20D, K200D.
- Camera Maker Notes are lost when using the Batch Set Information and Batch Edit tools.
- Some Camera Maker notes, for some Canon, Epson, Nikon, Olympus and Pentax camera models, are completely lost from the EXIF tab after running Tools | Batch Convert from RAW to JPEG.
- A crash occurs after pasting files with long file names (180 characters).
- Pro 3 Beta crashes if you attempt to develop an 8 or 16-bit image in Process mode.
- There is a focus issue when entering text in the Text tool in Process mode.
- Pro 3 Beta will crash if you modify an image in View mode and are forced to use Save As, if you have not previously used Process mode in the same session.
- Pro 3 Beta will hang if you show the histogram and adjust the scroll bar in the Edit pane.
- Pro 3 Beta may fail to generate a RAW image proxy after developing a RAW image.
- White balance settings shown in Pro 3 Beta for a RAW image processed in Pro 2.5 do not match what is shown in Pro 2.5.
- The ACDSee Device Detector may crash when a mobile phone is connected to the computer via Bluetooth.
- Multi-page TIFF files which contain tags unknown to Pro 3 will merge or collapse the pages when modifying the TIFF file.
- Images may not appear centered in full screen mode in a dual monitor setup.
- When trying to enter Process mode with invalid files, the message displayed is not a modal dialog box (it does not prevent you continuing to use the application).
- In Manage mode, the Filmstrip will not select the first item in the file list when browsing to a new folder.
- In Edit, the Preview bar may not be positioned correctly.
- Pro 3 Beta may hang or crash during the cataloging process.
- Pro 3 Beta may incorrectly load a developed image in Process mode.
- The CTRL + E shortcut does not work in Develop mode.
- Images may display twice in full screen mode, on Windows Vista.
- Search and Quick search. Does not sync address bar and quick search bar in Online and Manage modes.
- Pro 3 Beta does not support processing excluded files or excluded folders.
- Pro 3 Beta may crash on attempting to save an image in BMP format.
- Pro 3 Beta may crash when panning a cropped image in the Detail tab in Develop.
- Processed RAW files that have been renamed may appear incorrectly in View mode.
- Pro 3 Beta may crash when applying changes to large set of RAW files and saving as TIFF.
- Removing the database may cause problems with developed RAW files.
- The left and right arrow keys may not work correctly in View mode.
- In Develop, if you make an adjustment and then ‘reset’ the adjustment, Pro 3 Beta may appear to apply the adjustment when you leave Develop.
- The Catalog Files command may hang if it encounters processed RAW files where the [originals] folder has been deleted.
- In Manage mode, the Filter By option does not work correctly for Tagged/Untagged when viewing categories.
- In View mode, rotated landscape images may not be display correctly. As a workaround, minimize the Pro 3 Beta window and restore it to a larger view to refresh the image.
- Under certain circumstances when an image is rotated in Develop mode, the crop settings are not correctly initialized. When applying a ‘Last Used’ develop preset from Manage mode, this may result in an output image which doesn’t apply an automatic crop to the rotated image.
Online mode
- Enable cookies in Internet Explorer.
- Browsing ACDSee Online uses the latest version of your Internet Explorer. Please upgrade to Internet Explorer 7 or higher for optimal performance of ACDSee Online.

- Selective Browsing is only available in Online mode.
- You can only upload 10 folders at a time to your ACDSee Online account.
- You cannot create two ACDSee Online accounts on the same computer.

- The maximum number of images an online folder can have is 400.
- Currently, ACDSee Online cannot upload Sony DSLR A900 RAW files and convert them to JPEG.
- After pausing an image upload, and you try to delete or rename the file being uploaded, Pro 3 Beta crashes.
- Do not close Pro 3 Beta while uploading your images. Pause the upload first, before closing Pro 3 Beta.
- Currently, you cannot download your images from your ACDSee Online account.
- Thumbnails are sometimes not displayed correctly. If your thumbnails are not displayed correctly after dragging the images for upload, press F5 to refresh.
- The maximum number of folders you can create on ACDSee Online is 100.
- Changing the original file or the upload size after pausing uploads may result in a crash. It is recommended not to change the original file or the upload size while there are paused uploads.
- Aperture and shutter speed information are not correctly displayed for images.
- The Image Basket is not available in Online mode.
- Uploading images with more than 64 characters in the file name may result in problems deleting from Online mode.
