Scrapbookers and avid photographers to help shape next version of ACDSee Photo Editor

VICTORIA, British Columbia – February 26, 2008 - ACD Systems International Inc. today announced that it is inviting scrapbookers and creative photographers to participate in the development of ACDSee Photo Editor 2008™. The upgrade, scheduled for release later this year, will include improvements to ACDSee’s easy-to-use digital design and layout software to provide users with more creative possibilities.

“We invite the community to work with us in the development process,” said Mark Franklin, executive vice president of ACD Systems. “Our users really appreciate that with Photo Editor they are able to design their own photo compositions without taking a lot of time to learn the software. Our continued engagement with users has helped us to extend ACDSee Photo Editor’s creative capabilities as we add features for their unique needs.”

People interested in serving as beta testers are invited to visit www.acdsee.com/photoeditor to download a Photo Editor 2008 beta and test-drive features including new dynamic image adjustment capabilities, custom text paths and an array of templates developed by top digital designers Andrea Gold and Maggie Lamarre. Testers are also invited to provide feedback directly to the ACD Systems' product development team via the company’s online forum at http://forums.acdsystems.com. There is no cost to participate.

“Scrapbookers have specific creative needs, and the learning curve of traditional photo editing tools can make the process long and daunting,” said Connie Bensen, who recently joined ACD Systems as community manager. “I’ve always chosen ACDSee products and recommended them to other scrapbookers because technology should never be a barrier to creativity and fun. There’s so much to explore in the worlds of digital and hybrid scrapbooking, and with ACDSee, it’s easy to make your ideas come to life.”

Specific features currently planned for Photo Editor 2008 include:

  • Advanced journaling and text curving capabilities
  • ‘Trim to shape’ feature for quick and easy use of templates
  • New and improved resizing, cropping, and masking options
  • Artistic effects that can be added, modified or deleted at any time
  • Quick optimization for Web and advanced printing functions.

Photo Editor integrates seamlessly with ACDSee 10 Photo Manager™, the company’s tool for viewing, organizing and managing growing photo and digital scrapbooking collections. The software's short learning curve is further abbreviated with built-in how-tos and downloadable, online tutorials at www.acdsee.com and the community site www.digiscrapinfo.com.

The feedback process for Photo Editor 2008 is the second major public beta test held by ACD Systems. The release of its first major upgrade for professional photo workflow management tool ACDSee Pro 2 was heavily influenced by the participation of more than 2,500 photographers from around the globe.
